Ethernet switches meet IEC standard for SCADA monitoring and control
Moxa's PowerTrans PT-7528 series are Ethernet switches with MMS data modeling that are designed to fulfill the requirements of the IEC 61850-90-4 standard, which allows the switches to be controlled and monitored by a SCADA power system. At the time of the announcement, Moxa said these were the first compliant switches.
Moxa’s PowerTrans PT-7528 series are Ethernet switches with MMS data modeling that are designed to fulfill the requirements of the IEC 61850-90-4 standard outlining network engineering guidelines for Communication Networks and Systems in Substations. At the time of the announcement, Moxa said these were the first compliant switches. The IEC 61850-90-4 support means the switches can be controlled, monitored and managed via a power SCADA system.
The PT-7528 series incorporates Moxa Noise Guard technology, which makes it compliant with IEEE 1613 class 2 standards as well as IEC 61850. The PT-7528 series includes a wide range of models to provide multi-type port configurations.
The switch also features Fiber Check, which allows the PT-7528 series to detect substation errors. The PT-7528 series allows installation of up to 4 modular fiber ports and 24 fixed 10/100BaseT(X) RJ45 ports.
