Though exhibitor turnout of about 100 companies for ICAM Asia was less than original estimates, enthusiasm for the international trade fair for Industrial Control, Automation, and Measurement remained high at its recent opening ceremonies. Karlheinz Wismer, managing director of Messe Düsseldorf, the show organizer’s parent company, stressed ICAM Asia’s coverage of both process control and automation and noted its special highlight to bus technology. The IO process control association members of the Asia Pacific Federation of Instrumentation and Control Societies (See Control Engineering International , Sept. ’98, p. 60), held their second meeting during ICAM Asia, and welcomed new members, Japan and the U.S., which is represented by ISA, the international society for measurement and control.
