Shell uses software to integrate software

Instead of hiring consultants to create custom integration software, Shell U.K. Exploration and Production (Shell Expro) recently used Primaplan Flint integration software to link Primavera Project Planner (P3) and SAP R/3 software packages. To increase communications and efficiency, Shell Expro needed to use SAP’s and Primavera Systems’ product together, but avoid data inconsistencies and delays associated with maintaining two separate systems. Primaplan Flint helps P3 integrate with other corporate systems by controlling data transfers to and from P3 through a data-mapping interface. Built in cooperation with Primavera, Flint shares P3 schedule data with applications, such as SAP R/2 and R/3. Common fields between applications can be matched and the data flow that fits business processes can be designed.
