Houston, Tex.- A test package consisting of a software module and a flexible hardware card that carries all necessary digital I/O channels is available for checking safety and shutdown valves without disrupting production in petrochemical and other critical safety plants. The test package partially strokes the valve during normal plant operations to check that it is not stuck in the open position and allows test automation using only standard ESD system components. Software checks valve movement after only a few percent of its travel before returning it to the open position.
