I’m proud to be editor-in-chief of Control Engineering , but even more proud to be part of the editorial team that creates the automation and control industry’s most comprehensive set of information vehicles.

Jim Montague , news editor, covers trends/markets and coordinates many departments. Ask Jim about his daughters.

Gary Mintchell , senior editor, covers machine control, PC-based control, and human-machine interfaces. He also referees soccer and studies philosophy.

Dave Harvey , publisher, was excited to be in the photo, though not an editor.

Carol Davies , art director, helps editors think graphically. She also meditates and skis, although not simultaneously.

Dave Harrold , senior editor, covers process control systems. Dave, with his home office in a strategic location, golfs once in awhile.

Dick Johnson , senior editor, does process control instrumentation. Ask him about train watching.

Jane Gerold , worldwide director of web development and integrated marketing-most recently associate publisher/editorial director-targets www.controleng.com and custom publishing.

Mary Nasiri , design editor, helps design Control Engineering pages and is a pro at tag-team parenting.

Lara Jackson , editorial assistant, supplies general editorial info, helps write and research, and proofreads. Separately, she writes fiction and studies astronomy.

Mark Hoske , editor-in-chief; I’ve been on the team five years, most recently as managing editor. I write on networks and communications and oversee software coverage; 12 of 17 years of writing, reporting, and editing have been at technology magazines. In addition to promoting workflow process changes, I also can advocate foster parenting and adoption.

Vance VanDoren , consulting editor, covers system integration and advanced control. He’s a hands-on expert on the Middle Ages.

Laura Zurawski , web editor, writes ‘Cyberpage,’ and shapes www.controleng.com. She sings madrigals.

Matt Peach , European editor out of Sutton, U.K., writes ‘European Perspectives,’ news, products, and more for Control Engineering International

Anita Norstrom , production editor, integrates text, graphics, and photos. She’s recently returned to college.

Mike Drakulich , assistant editor, does ‘Product Focus’ and oversees buyer’s guides. Mike performs theater.

Frank Bartos , executive editor, covers motors, drives and motion control, and has been active in Control Engineering International’s growth. As a former boat owner, he now enjoys sailing occasionally.

George Blickley (not shown), consulting editor, delivers market intelligence.

Author Bio: Mark Hoske has been Control Engineering editor/content manager since 1994 and in a leadership role since 1999, covering all major areas: control systems, networking and information systems, control equipment and energy, and system integration, everything that comprises or facilitates the control loop. He has been writing about technology since 1987, writing professionally since 1982, and has a Bachelor of Science in Journalism degree from UW-Madison.
