EC: eWorx SE300 Ethernet Switch

Network Integration — Ethernet switches: IEEE802.3az energy efficient, cost effective, industrial grade SE300 monitored switches remotely monitor and analyze network status supporting Modbus/TCP and SNMP simultaneously for full read control to IT and control engineers. This is a Control Engineering 2017 Engineers’ Choice Awards Finalist.

The eWorx SE300 series industrial grade smart switches with free iView software deliver basic management capabilities and the newest Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) design technology at a fraction of the cost of a fully managed switch.

B+B SmartWorx’s new eWorx SE300 series Smart Ethernet Switches can be used in two ways: (1) They can be deployed as plug and play unmanaged switches right out of the box. (2) Downloading the free iView software gives them basic management capabilities as well.

iView uses a web browser to enable monitoring status and control in what is normally an unmanaged Ethernet field application network. The SE300 series will monitor network traffic status and individual port statistics. Primary management features includes global broadcast storm control, enable/disable Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE), and port (zero touch) QoS. The switches support Modbus/TCP SCADA software communications and NMS (Networking Management System) SNMP protocol.

The SE300 series has a built in Modbus agent that allows control engineers to create individual tags that provide network status information. Then, Modbus SCADA software will be able to access network information as needed. The SE300 can also monitor for Ethernet network errors and automatically report them to SCADA system. Users can also use iView for first line troubleshooting with reset and reboot features.

The eWorx SE300 series is the industry’s first switch design certified EEE. With Ethernet Green IEEE802.3az certifications, SE300 switches cut power usage by up to 60%. The system will detect the actual physical connection distance for the individual connected device in each port to adjust the system power and will reduce power output when Ethernet ports are not connected to end devices. Available in 5, 8 and 16 port models, SE300 monitored switches are an intelligent choice for bridging the gap between unmanaged and managed switches in modern industrial networks.
