EC: Lion-Link Ethernet/IP Bus Coupler 0940 ESL 611

Network Integration - Network hardware: The LioN-Link EtherNet/IP bus coupler makes network updates and repairs simple, providing flexible interface options across existing EtherNet/IP protocols for real-time data and diagnostics access in harsh industrial settings, withstanding mechanical vibration, shock and corrosion. This is a Control Engineering 2016 Engineers’ Choice finalist.

The LioN-Link EtherNet/IP Bushead is interchangeable with the LioN-Link Profinet Bushead, allowing a machine builder to design and build a system without having to identify whether the system will be controlled using EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Profibus or DeviceNet. Only the bushead changes depending on which PLC and fieldbus is used, which reduces engineering and assembly time and saves machine builders money, since they can reuse old designs.

The LioN-Link Ethernet/IP bus coupler is the first to provide a much-needed interface between the LioN-link modular fieldbus system and the EtherNet/IP protocol. Each coupler node connects up to 30 I/O modules, distributed to two lines, with a maximum of 15 I/O modules per line. These lines can extend up to 100 m, which is twice the distance of any other product on the market.

The point-to-point connections between these couplers and the I/O modules does not require any termination at the end of the lines, and configuration of the product is detected automatically—no physical addressing of the modules is necessary. This product enables universal integration, long-distance connections and unprecedented access to real time and robust data, allowing engineers to quickly identify and correct mistakes in the field.
