Engineers and managers interested in electricity or automation will likely discover that ELEC ’98 is the biggest trade show in Europe this coming autumn. The exhibition will be held on Dec. 7-11, 1998, at the Paris-Nord Exhibition Centre. ELEC ’98 organizers say 24% of the 600 already-signed exhibitors are new to the show. They add that international participation is running ahead of previous shows. Held in December 1996, the last event had 1,720 exhibitors from 34 countries, which included 86% from the European Union. That exhibition broke the 100,000 attendee barrier for the first time. ELEC has three main categories: generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity; automation and fieldbuses; and applications of electricity, such as lighting, heating, and maintenance.
