Hubertus, Wis.- ExperTune recently released a software enhancement to its process analysis and control loop tuning application for conducting Time Line Analysis (TLA). TLA helps users better understand relationships between the time of each component in the control loop, and assists in correcting deficiencies to improve control loop performance.

For example, the sample interval should always be shorter than the dead time in the loop. If the sample interval is close to the dead time shortening the sample interval will improve overall loop performance.

ExperTune’s TLA software appropriately scales and plots times for sample interval, filter, derivative, dead time, equivalent dead time, integral and relative response. The software also performs time evaluations between items, and displays a color-coded message bar between each comparison. Upon completion of time line analysis, ExperTune software uses Microsoft Word to create a report that includes the time line plot with associated entities and comparison ratios.
