Phoenix Contact offers explosion-proof, wireless I/O system

Phoenix Contact reports that wireless I/O systems can now be safely installed in Division 1 areas by using its new XANT explosion-proof system. This patent-pending wireless I/O transmitter/receiver system features an Adalet cast-aluminum enclosure that houses a transmitter and antenna.

Phoenix Contact reports that wireless I/O systems can now be safely installed in Division 1 areas by using its new XANT explosion-proof system. This patent-pending wireless I/O transmitter/receiver system features an Adalet cast-aluminum enclosure that houses a transmitter and antenna. A receiver and antenna, included loose with the packaged system, can be housed in any Adalet stainless steel or fiberglass enclosure.

A second model, N4ANT, is also available for industrial or general-purpose, NEMA 4X-rated areas, where rugged protection is important. Both models reduce installation labor costs and eliminate conduit and wires in hazardous or other industrial locations.

Phoenix Contact reports that these transmitter/receiver systems use spread-spectrum, frequency-hopping techniques to guarantee a license-free (902-928 MHz ISM band), interference-free link between remote devices and the control room. Typical in-plant range is 600-1,000 ft with no line-of-sight, but that range is much farther in outdoor applications. Capable of carrying one 4-20 mA analog signal, the systems also feature 1-W transmitter power and three contact outputs.
