To help users try out technologies and make better automation decisions, several partners recently opened the Sensor-Connectivity Center. This new automation demonstration and training facility allows users and OEMs to evaluate sensor, control, and network combinations and find those that best meet their particular process needs.
To help users try out technologies and make better automation decisions, several partners recently opened the Sensor-Connectivity Center. This new automation demonstration and training facility allows users and OEMs to evaluate sensor, control, and network combinations and find those that best meet their particular process needs.
The center is a cooperative effort among automation reseller MC2 (Madison Heights, Mich.), Banner Engineering, Turck Inc. (both in Minneapolis, Minn.), and InterlinkBT (Plymouth, Minn.). Located near Detroit, the center was originally expected to serve automotive users, but currently attracts 40 visitors per week from diverse industries worldwide.
Featured are interactive panels that help users operate sensors, PC-based controls, and device-level buses. Visitors can also bring in parts and problems, and develop custom automation solutions with help from the center’s engineers. The facility operates and supports three open fieldbuses, including DeviceNet, Profibus, and Interbus.
