Though standards organizations have long recommended conformance testing, nearly 80% of problems in open systems are still caused by noncompliant products and resulting interoperability issues, according to a new ControlNet International white paper. To alleviate communications conflicts and squabbles over noncompliant solutions, ControlNet recently developed a conformance test to verify ControlNet-protocol compliance. ControlNet is also working with its members, integrators, and end-users to stress the benefits of conformance testing. The white paper and a list of ControlNet conformance-tested products are located at www.controlnet.org .
