The Bundy Group reported 22 automation transactions in its September 2025 summary reports. Analysis on the acquisitions and reports are highlighted below including transactions involving Digi, Grundfos, Hexagon, Mitsubishi Electric, Nozomi Networks and others.

Bundy Group, an investment bank and advisory firm that specializes in the automation segment, provides an update on mergers and acquisitions and capital placement activity for this industry, with 22 September 2025 report transactions, involving Digi, Grundfos, Hexagon, Mitsubishi Electric, Nozomi Networks among other companies. Technologies involved include automation, cybersecurity, industrial AI, panel building, pumps, robotics, system integration, machine vision, simulation software and others.

The Bundy Group said that the automation market continues to experience many mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and capital markets activities. Drivers of this activity include the growth-oriented nature of the automation market, the consolidation opportunities within the industry and the strength of many of the companies operating within it. The automation market has attracted a critical mass of strategic buyers and financial sponsors (private-equity groups, family offices, institutional investors) that seek to own or invest in the industry. From such Bundy Group closed automation transactions as CITI System Integrators and Ultimation, and the team continues to see strong interest from a range of qualified buyers in the automation segment. Robostrategy, CRV, and First Round Capital invested in Dyna Robotics, Sept. 15

Dyna Robotics closed a $120 million Series A funding round led by Robostrategy, CRV, and First Round Capital, with participation from Salesforce Ventures, NVentures, Amazon Industrial Innovation Fund, Samsung Next, and LG Technology Ventures. The funding will support expansion of its research and engineering team and accelerate development of its next-generation robotics foundation model.

Rensa Filtration acquired Irema-Filter, Sept. 15

Rensa Filtration, an Audax Private Equity portfolio company, acquired IREMA-Filter GmbH and its U.S. subsidiary Aeolus Filter Corp. from Pinova Capital. Irema, founded 50 years ago in Postbauer-Heng, Germany, specializes in filtration media and pleating technologies, while Aeolus Filter, based in Archdale, NC, produces filters using Irema’s technology for critical data center and healthcare air filtration applications.

Purgo Holdings acquired Puroflux Corp., Sept. 10

Montage Partners has sold Puroflux Corporation, a Simi Valley, California-based designer and manufacturer of industrial and commercial water filtration and control systems, to Purgo Holdings, a portfolio company of Wincove Private Holdings. Founded in 1994, Puroflux provides separators, permanent media filters, disc filters, pump packages, and UL 508A industrial control panels for HVAC, industrial, and commercial applications.

Mitsubishi Electric acquired Nozomi Networks, Sept. 9

Mitsubishi Electric acquired Nozomi Networks, a provider of OT, IoT, and CPS security, making it a wholly owned subsidiary while allowing it to operate independently, strengthening Mitsubishi Electric’s industrial cybersecurity capabilities and expanding its AI-powered, cloud-first solutions.                

Advanced Industrial Devices acquired Economy Control Systems, Sept. 8

Advanced Industrial Devices, a Black Bay Energy Capital portfolio company, acquired Economy Control Systems, a Jacksonville, Florida-based provider of custom control panels for water, wastewater, and industrial applications. With over 30 years of experience across the southeastern U.S., ECS is known for reliable, efficient systems and strong expertise in process automation, engineering, and design-build construction. The acquisition strengthens AID’s presence in the water infrastructure and industrial dewatering markets.

Alibaba Cloud invested in X Square Robot, Sept. 7

Chinese startup X Square Robot raised around $100 million in a funding round led by Alibaba Cloud. This marks the company’s eighth financing since its December 2023 launch, bringing total investment to about $280 million. Other participants included HongShan (formerly Sequoia Capital China), Meituan, Legend Star, Legend Capital, and INCE Capital. The funding will support the development of humanoid robots integrated with generative AI.

Cadence acquired Design & Engineering, Sept. 4

Cadence acquired the Design & Engineering business of Hexagon AB, including MSC Software, significantly enhancing its system design and analysis portfolio and expanding its presence in engineering simulation and structural analysis markets. The addition of Hexagon’s design and engineering and talent will build upon Cadence’s 2024 Beta CAE acquisition, enabling a meaningfully deeper presence in the multi-billion-dollar structural analysis market.

Quiet Capital & Shine Capital invested in  Orchard Robotics, Sept. 3

California-based Orchard Robotics has raised $22 million in an oversubscribed Series A funding round to expand its precision agriculture operations. Founded in 2022 by Charlie Wu, the company uses AI-powered camera systems and farm management software to improve crop monitoring and decision-making for farmers. Orchard Robotics works with leading U.S. apple and grape farms, as well as growers of blueberries, cherries, almonds, pistachios, citrus, and strawberries.

Etteplan acquired Eltech Automation AB, Sept. 2

Etteplan acquired Eltech Automation AB, a Swedish provider of industrial automation and robotics solutions, strengthening its presence in Southern Sweden and expanding its service offerings to include production solutions, with founder Mikael Carlsson continuing to manage the acquired business.          

Optel acquired Vanguard Robotics, Aug. 28

Optel Group acquired Vanguard Robotics, a provider of end-of-line collaborative robot automation. The acquisition strengthens Optel’s capabilities in pharmaceutical automation and positions the company to capitalize on the rapidly growing global cobot market. Founded in 2018, Vanguard Robotics has earned a strong reputation for its collaborative robotic systems designed specifically for regulated pharmaceutical environments.

Investindustrial acquired Kiremko Group, Idaho Steel Products and Reyco Systems, Aug. 27

Investindustrial acquired Kiremko Group B.V., Idaho Steel Products, Inc., and Reyco Systems, Inc., collectively a provider of customized equipment and solutions for the potato processing industry. The Group offers full-line industrial solutions for producing frozen French fries, hash browns, and potato flakes, serving top global processors through its tri-brand partnership.

Circor International  acquired Swelore Engineering and Hiro Nisha Systems, Aug. 22

Circor- International has acquired Swelore Engineering Pvt. Ltd. and Hiro Nisha Systems Pvt. Ltd., two Indian pump manufacturers. The acquisition adds diaphragm metering pumps, dosing packages, and high-pressure reciprocating pumps to Circor’s Industrial portfolio, strengthens its presence in the Indian market, and expands global growth opportunities through integration with Circor’s worldwide platform.       

Ondex Automation acquired Vision and Control Systems, Aug. 21

Ondex Automation acquired Vision and Control Systems, a factory automation systems integrator specializing in machine vision. The acquisition strengthens Ondex’s capabilities in machine vision, barcode reading, robotic solutions, motion control, and PLC programming, while VCS’s expertise supports advanced automation across medical devices, life sciences, food and beverage, consumer goods, logistics, and industrial markets.

Vessco Water acquired Heyward-Charlotte Inc., Aug. 20

Vessco Water has acquired Heyward-Charlotte Incorporated, a leading supplier of water and wastewater process equipment in the Carolinas. The acquisition enhances Vessco’s regional capabilities and expertise, adding Heyward’s engineering, control system integration, and lifecycle support services to its platform for power, industrial, and municipal customers.

Vessco Water acquired EYW Companies, Aug. 20

Vessco Water acquired EYW Companies LLC, a Rochester, New York-based provider of industrial automation and process control solutions. The acquisition adds EYW’s expertise in automation, systems integration, and control solutions across water, wastewater, and other industrial applications to Vessco’s platform, expanding its capabilities and service offerings in New York and Pennsylvania.

Grundfos acquired Newterra, Aug. 20

Grundfos acquired Newterra, a Pittsburgh-based water and wastewater treatment solutions company. The acquisition expands Grundfos’ water treatment capabilities and strengthens its presence in the U.S. and Canadian markets, enabling the company to offer more complete, energy- and water-efficient solutions to customers globally.

Automated Industrial Robotics (AIR) acquired Owens Design, Aug. 19

Automated Industrial Robotics Inc. acquired Owens Design, a Fremont-based industrial automation company specializing in custom solutions for high-tech industries. The acquisition enhances AIR’s engineering capabilities across the U.S., U.K., and Ireland. Founded in 1983, Owens Design supports OEMs and manufacturers on complex automation projects across semiconductor, renewable energy, data storage, and medical markets, with around 100 employees and over 3,000 customized tools delivered to date.

EVS Broadcast Equipment acquired Telemetrics, Aug. 19

EVS, a provider of live video technology, has acquired U.S.-based Telemetrics Inc., a pioneer in media production robotics. The acquisition expands EVS’s portfolio with high-value automation solutions, strengthens its U.S. presence, and aligns with its mission to deliver “return on emotion” while unlocking synergies across its ecosystem. The deal, set to close on October 1, 2025, also opens opportunities for U.S.-based product assembly and supports long-term growth through portfolio diversification and an increased addressable market.

Digi International acquired Jolt Software, Aug. 18

Digi International Inc. acquired Jolt Software, a solutions provider for the convenience store and food and beverage industries. The acquisition strengthens Digi’s SmartSense business, enhancing operational intelligence and compliance automation across multiple verticals, and supports growth in recurring revenues through scalable subscription offerings.

Serve Robotics acquired Vayu Robotics, Aug 18

Serve Robotics Inc. acquired Vayu Robotics, a provider of urban robot navigation using large-scale AI models. The acquisition strengthens Serve’s leadership in autonomous sidewalk delivery, combining its real-world autonomy data with Vayu’s AI expertise to develop safer, faster, and more scalable navigation solutions while supporting expansion into new geographies and use cases.

Fortifi acquired Provisur Technologies, Aug. 18

Fortifi Food Processing Solutions acquired Provisur Technologies, a provider of processing solutions for the protein industry. The acquisition expands Fortifi’s automation, robotics, and software capabilities and adds Provisur’s portfolio of trusted brands, including AM2C, Beehive, Cashin, Formax, Hoegger, Lutetia, and Weiler, strengthening its ability to deliver integrated food processing solutions worldwide.

EssilorLuxottica acquired Automation & Robotics, Aug. 4

EssilorLuxottica acquired Automation & Robotics, a Belgian company specializing in automated systems for optical lens quality control, enhancing its capabilities in advanced optical metrology and supporting the digital transformation of lens manufacturing with A&R’s expertise in research and development, software, manufacturing, and deployment.
