High-mix solution: Invistics teams with Camelot for lean planning and scheduling

Invistics , a provider of lean planning and scheduling software, reports a partnership with management consultancy Camelot IDPro that will yield demand-driven manufacturing solutions for nontraditional Lean environments.
While performance improvements have been successful in repetitive, high-volume production environments such as automotive, other industries faced with high variability and high product mix such as those found in pharmaceutical, chemicals, and consumer goods haven’t been successful in applying the same techniques. More companies are turning to lean manufacturing techniques, Six Sigma initiatives, and traditional software solutions such as ERP and advanced planning & scheduling (APS) to reduce operational costs, optimize productivity, and streamline throughput.
While ERP solutions comprise an effective enterprise backbone for processing transactions and meeting basic reporting requirements, they lack essential components to fully support lean techniques in high-mix manufacturing environments. The Invistics MachSix software solution reportedly extends ERP, APS, and manufacturing execution systems by leveraging systems data into actionable information for today’s demand-driven manufacturers.
“Companies have wasted millions on lean consulting and technology vendors that have little or no expertise in adopting lean and flow principles to these more complex manufacturing environments,” says Jim Lochry, a senior VP with Invistics. “With Camelot, we can offer bet practices for lean paired with proven software and methodology to help customers realize significant and sustainable improvements across inventory, cycle time, throughput, and customer-service levels.”
