GE Fanuc Automation recently agreed to become a global preferred supplier of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and I/O products to all divisions of Invensys plc (London). For example, customer applications requiring DCS and PLC solutions will be able to have the hardware, software, and services provided by Invensys, where Foxboro, SimSci, Esscor, Triconex, Wonderware, Baan, and recently acquired engineering firm Walsh Automation are being integrated into a solutions provider. Adding GE Fanuc’s worldwide support and e-business infrastructure to the Invensys’ focused-growth capabilities brings Invensys closer to providing “sensor to boardroom” solutions.
