Bundy Group, an investment bank and advisory firm that specializes in the automation segment, provides an update on mergers and acquisitions and capital placement activity for this industry, with 20 July 2026 report transactions, involving ABB, Flowserve, FloWorks, Futronic, Rotork, Schneider Electric, Toyota and Walden Robotics, among other companies. The Bundy Group said the automation market continues to experience many mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and capital markets activities. Activity drivers include the growth-oriented nature of the automation market, the consolidation opportunities within the industry and the strength of many of the companies operating within it. The automation market has attracted a critical mass of strategic buyers and financial sponsors (private-equity groups, family offices, institutional investors) that seek to own or invest in the industry. From such Bundy Group closed automation transactions as CITI System Integrators and Ultimation, and the team continues to see strong interest from a range of qualified buyers in the automation segment. BlackStone agreed to invest in Futronic, July 20

Blackstone has agreed to make a significant investment in Futronic, a South Korean manufacturer of high-precision actuators and motion-control technologies for automotive and industrial robotics applications. Futronic operates primarily in Korea and the United States, serving global automotive manufacturers while expanding into humanoid and general robotics, with founder Jin-ho Ko remaining chairman and CEO.

Value Added Distributors merged with Exotic Automation & Supply, July 16

Value Added Distributors, a Rotunda Capital Partners portfolio company, has merged with Exotic Automation & Supply to create a 38-location industrial fluid-power and automation distribution and fabrication platform across the Midwest and South. The combined company serves industrial maintenance, repair and operations (MRO), original equipment manufacturer (OEM), and mobile-equipment customers with hoses, fittings, hydraulic and pneumatic components, automation products, engineered systems, custom fabrication, kitting and inventory-management services.

ABB agreed to acquire Rotork Midland, July 16

ABB agreed to acquire Rotork, a Bath, U.K.-based provider of intelligent flow-control and valve-actuation technologies, in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $5.5 billion. Rotork supplies electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic actuators, control systems and related services for the energy, water, power, chemical and industrial sectors.

Toyota & Deviation Capital invest in Walden Robotics, July 15

Walden Robotics has launched from stealth with $300 million in seed funding at a $1.1 billion valuation, in a round co-led by Toyota and Deviation Capital. The Cambridge-based physical AI company develops general-purpose robots that continuously learn while performing manufacturing and logistics tasks alongside people.

ShoreView invested in VanZandt Controls/Eagle Automation, July 15

ShoreView has invested in VanZandt Controls/Eagle Automation, establishing a new platform focused on flow control, process instrumentation, and industrial automation. VanZandt provides valve automation, flow measurement, controls, panels, skids, field services, and related solutions for oil and gas and industrial-process customers.

Ferguson Enterprises agreed to acquire FloWorks, July 13

Ferguson agreed to acquire FloWorks, a Houston-based distributor and service provider of highly engineered valves and flow-control solutions, from Wynnchurch Capital for approximately $1.6 billion. FloWorks operates more than 60 locations across the United States and Canada, serving the chemical, refining, power generation, semiconductor, pharmaceutical and data-center markets.

Tavoron acquired Fluidraulics, July 13

Tavoron acquired Fluidraulics, a Pennsylvania- and Ohio-based distributor of automation components and systems, expanding its motion-control capabilities and presence in the Pittsburgh and Cleveland markets. Fluidraulics supplies pneumatic automation products, including cylinders, actuators, grippers, valves, fittings, sensors and air-preparation equipment, along with application and implementation support.

General Control Systems acquired LCS Controls, July 7

General Control Systems acquired LCS Controls, a Vermont-based industrial automation and controls engineering systems integrator specializing in SCADA solutions for water and wastewater facilities. LCS will operate as “LCS Controls, a GCS Company,” expanding GCS’s technical capabilities and presence across New England while retaining Tom Allen in a leadership role.

RMH Systems acquired Top Shelf Integrated Solutions, July 6

RMH Systems acquired Top Shelf Integrated Solutions, a Columbus, Ohio-based integrator of custom material handling systems for manufacturers, warehouses, and distribution centers. The acquisition establishes RMH’s presence in central Ohio and gives Top Shelf’s customers access to RMH’s packaging, robotics, automation and industrial scale capabilities.

Blackstone Energy Transition Partners agreed to acquire Dresser Utility Solutions, July 6

Blackstone Energy Transition Partners agreed to acquire Dresser Utility Solutions, a Houston-based provider of natural gas and water measurement, control, and infrastructure equipment, from First Reserve. Dresser provides metering technology, digital instrumentation and software, pressure and flow-control solutions and infrastructure repair products for utilities and industrial customers worldwide.

Control Devices acquired Solenoid Solutions, July 6

Control Devices, an HBM Holdings portfolio company, acquired Solenoid Solutions, an Erie, Pennsylvania-based manufacturer of specialized solenoid valves and manifolds. The acquisition expands Control Devices’ engineered flow-control portfolio and capabilities across medical, food service, appliances, industrial cooling, instrumentation and transportation markets.

Valmet acquired Severn Group, July 1

Valmet has completed its acquisition of Severn Group, an industrial valve company specializing in severe-service flow-control solutions. The acquisition includes Severn Glocon, ValvTechnologies and LB Bentley, expanding Valmet’s valve and automation capabilities across energy, refining, chemicals, metals, mining and other process industries.

Truelink Capital invested in Horwitz, July 1

Truelink Capital has made an investment in Horwitz, a Minneapolis provider of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services supporting complex commercial and industrial facilities. Truelink is a Los Angeles-based private equity firm focused on growth and value creation, while Horwitz provides HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building automation solutions, serving high-growth private sector end markets including data centers, medtech, semiconductor fabrication, healthcare and advanced manufacturing across the Twin Cities region and Midwest.

Flowserve acquired Trillium Flow Technologies, June 30

Flowserve has completed the acquisition of Trillium Flow Technologies’ Valves Division, a market-leading provider of highly engineered mission-critical valves used in nuclear and traditional power generation, industrial, and critical infrastructure applications. Flowserve is a leading provider of flow control products and services for global infrastructure markets, while TVD had an installed base of more than 200,000 units including assets in 115 operating nuclear reactors, generating approximately $200 million in annual revenue with high-teens adjusted EBITDA margins.

Schneider Electric acquired Cognite Holding, June 30

Schneider Electric has acquired Cognite Holding, a privately held provider of industrial AI software and data analytics that turns complex operational data into competitive advantages for capital-intensive sectors. Schneider Electric is a French multinational in energy management, automation and industrial software that will integrate Cognite into its wholly owned industrial software unit Aveva, while Cognite has built an industrial-grade AI platform with Data Fusion and Atlas AI capabilities and employs around 800 people worldwide.

CVC Capital Partners agreed to acquire Clevertech, June 29

CVC Capital Partners agreed to acquire 100% of Clevertech, an Italian industrial automation company that designs and manufactures advanced automated packaging systems for sectors such as pet food, beverage, personal care, and wine and spirits. Clevertech is a global leader in packaging automation, while CVC is a major international private equity investor; the Reggiani family will reinvest as a minority shareholder, and founder Giuseppe Reggiani will remain chairman and CEO.

New Mountain Capital invested in RRC Companies, June 24

New Mountain Capital has made a majority investment in RRC Companies, an Austin-based provider of engineering and technical services for utility-scale renewable power generation, battery storage, and broader power infrastructure projects. RRC’s leadership team and employees will retain a meaningful ownership stake, while New Mountain senior advisor Dr. Hisham Mahmoud has been appointed chairman of the board.

The Oberix Group & Leading Edge Automation acquired Profisol Industrial Automation, June 24

The Oberix Group and Leading Edge Automation have acquired Profisol Industrial Automation, a Melbourne-based provider of industrial automation and operational technology solutions for Australian customers. Profisol works across process control systems, SCADA and monitoring platforms, alarming systems, industrial communications and ongoing support services, while The Oberix Group and Leading Edge Automation bring engineering resources and automation expertise to expand project delivery capacity and technical support across Australia.

GrayMatter acquired New Frontier Technologies, June 23

GrayMatter acquired New Frontier Technologies, a Kansas City-based industrial automation specialist serving oil and gas, hydrocarbon and process industries, data centers and vision-based material handling applications. GrayMatter is a Tailwind Capital-backed industrial automation and operations platform that helps manufacturers and infrastructure operators modernize control, engineering, and data systems and the acquisition deepens its industrial automation pillar while establishing a first Kansas City presence.                       

Sundt Construction acquired Industrial Power Solutions, June 5

Sundt Construction has acquired Industrial Power Solutions, a Phoenix-based industrial electrical contractor that provides control panels, instrumentation solutions and electrical services for industrial, water treatment and infrastructure projects. Sundt is a Tempe, Arizona-based general contractor, and the acquisition more than doubles Sundt’s skilled electrical workforce, expanding its electrical self-perform capabilities and strengthening its ability to deliver complex water and wastewater projects across the Southwest.
