Bundy Group, an investment bank and advisory firm that specializes in the automation segment, provides an update on mergers and acquisitions and capital placement activity for this industry, with 32 October 2025 report transactions, involving ABB Robotics, Caterpillar and Object Management Group, among other companies. Technologies involved include automation, industrial artificial intelligence (AI) robotics, sensors, networking and industrial interoperability and others.

The Bundy Group said that the automation market continues to experience many mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and capital markets activities. Drivers of this activity include the growth-oriented nature of the automation market, the consolidation opportunities within the industry and the strength of many of the companies operating within it. The automation market has attracted a critical mass of strategic buyers and financial sponsors (private-equity groups, family offices, institutional investors) that seek to own or invest in the industry. From such Bundy Group closed automation transactions as CITI System Integrators and Ultimation, and the team continues to see strong interest from a range of qualified buyers in the automation segment. SoftBank Group agreed to acquire ABB Robotics, Oct. 8

SoftBank Group has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire ABB’s robotics business, with closing expected in mid‑to‑late 2026 pending regulatory approvals in the EU, China and the U.S. The deal advances SoftBank’s “physical AI” strategy by pairing ABB Robotics’ global footprint, 7,000‑person workforce and established product lines with SoftBank’s AI and robotics portfolio, positioning the combined platform to scale AI‑enabled industrial and service robotics.

Lone Star Funds acquired Hillenbrand, Oct. 15

Lone Star Funds has acquired Hillenbrand, which will become a private company upon completion, pending shareholder and regulatory approvals expected by the end of first quarter of 2026. Hillenbrand will continue focusing on engineered processing equipment through its Advanced Process Solutions and Molding Technology Solutions segments after recent portfolio streamlining and expansion in industrial food equipment.

DwyerOmega acquired Macurco, Oct. 15

DwyerOmega acquired Macurco, a global gas detection provider known for its reliable products used in HVAC, building automation, cold storage, food and beverage, petrochemical and battery storage systems. This acquisition enhances DwyerOmega’s gas detection capabilities and market presence in commercial, industrial and process sectors, strengthening safety and monitoring solutions worldwide.

Catchment Capital Partners invested in Fidus Systems, Sept. 30

Catchment Capital will make a majority investment in Fidus Systems, marking the firm’s inaugural deal. Founded in 2001 in Ottawa, Fidus provides high‑complexity electronic and embedded design services—FPGA/ASIC, embedded software, hardware and PCB layout, signal/power integrity, mechanical/thermal, RF and validation/testing, serving aerospace and defense, automotive, communications, computing and storage, consumer, industrial, medical devices and semiconductor equipment clients.

Kadant Inc. acquired Clyde Industries Holdings, Oct. 7

Kadant Inc. acquired Clyde Industries Holdings and its affiliates. Founded in 1924 and based in Atlanta, Georgia, Clyde Industries specializes in engineered boiler efficiency and cleaning technologies that improve performance, reduce costs and support sustainability in energy, pulp and paper and industrial markets. With about 400 employees and operations in several countries, Clyde Industries will join Kadant’s Industrial Processing segment, enhancing Kadant’s sustainable industrial processing capabilities and expanding its product portfolio.

CoreWeave agreed to acquire Monolith AI, Oct. 7

CoreWeave has agreed to acquire Monolith AI, combining Monolith’s simulation- and test‑driven machine learning with CoreWeave’s AI cloud to offer a full‑stack platform for industrial and manufacturing enterprises. The goal is to shorten R&D cycles, accelerate product development and design and deliver AI‑driven competitive advantages for engineering‑intensive customers.

Summit Park helped fund DX Electric, Oct. 6

Summit Park has led a majority recapitalization of DX Electric, a family-led electrical distributor founded in 1975 and based in Grapevine, Texas. DX supplies high-volume electrical parts to OEMs across diversified industrial markets, using a vendor-managed inventory model. The company has grown under current leaders Beckey Fuller and Misty Harriman, serving industrial, data center and energy sectors as a vital supply chain partner in Texas.

Bowman acquired Sierra Overhead Analytics, Oct. 6

Bowman acquired the assets of Sierra Overhead Analytics and its affiliate ORCaS, expanding its energy practice and digital services. SOA adds tech‑centric civil design, precision mapping and hydrology, while ORCaS brings proprietary tools for design automation, location optimization and hydrological studies. The deal strengthens Bowman in data centers, climate resiliency, utilities, power and alternative energy, with tools offered as proprietary, value‑add enhancements.

Alkhorayef Petroleum Co. acquired GRC Technologies (formerly Sercel-GRC), Sept. 25

Alkhorayef Petroleum Company has acquired GRC Technologies, a specialist in precision downhole gauges and well instrumentation, via a carve‑out; GRC will remain a wholly owned subsidiary and continue operating under its brand. The deal adds ESP sensors to APC’s portfolio, extending vertical integration across the ESP string, closing the well‑intelligence “physics gap,” and strengthening APC’s end‑to‑end ESP solutions and digital oilfield capabilities.

EDM Association acquired Object Management Group (OMG), Sept. 23

EDM Association has completed the acquisition of the assets of the Object Management Group, creating the world’s largest association for data, software, systems and standards professionals. The move aligns OMG’s standards bodies and communities—OMG SDO, Digital Twin Consortium, AREA and CISQ—with EDM Association’s data management frameworks and professional programs, giving members one authoritative standards partner with broader tools, training and expert support to advance data, technology and AI initiatives.

Caterpillar acquired RPMGlobal Holdings Ltd., Oct. 12

Caterpillar Inc. has agreed to acquire RPMGlobal Holdings Limited, an Australian mining software company headquartered in Brisbane. RPMGlobal provides data-driven software solutions for all stages of the mining lifecycle. The company’s culture and agile development align with Caterpillar’s focus on customer needs, complementing Caterpillar’s technologies in asset management, fleet management and autonomy. This acquisition aims to enhance mine-site operations and create greater value for customers.

MPI Technology acquired AutomatisierungsTechnik Voigt GmbH, Oct. 8

MPI Technology plans to acquire 100% equity in AutomatisierungsTechnik Voigt GmbH, a German company specializing in measurement systems for the semiconductor industry. Based in Dresden, ATV provides integrated test solutions and partners with leading semiconductor equipment brands. The acquisition, effective Nov. 1, 2025, expands MPI’s Europe footprint, strengthens its measurement system integration and enhances local support, boosting customer satisfaction and trust.

InflexionPoint acquired Process Innovations, Oct. 2

InflexionPoint has acquired Process Innovations, a provider of asset performance management solutions for the Aveva/OSIsoft PI System. Founded in 2004, Process Innovations serves energy, water treatment and industrial clients with software and services that optimize IoT and monitoring system analytics. This acquisition strengthens InflexionPoint’s PI expertise and OT/IT convergence, expanding its reach into life sciences, water, renewable energy and other areas.

Lerer Hippeau, Bloomberg Beta, Next Play Ventures, Transmedia Capital, & WestWave Capital funds Armstrong, Oct. 15

Armstrong, a San Francisco-based robotics company, raised $12 million to develop AI-powered general-purpose robots for restaurant kitchens, starting with dishwashing. Their robots tackle high-turnover dishwashing jobs efficiently without changing how restaurants operate, allowing staff to focus on customer experience. Already deployed in major restaurant chains, the robots work 24/7, handling over a million dishes annually.

Benford Capital Partners acquired Avalon Vision Solutions, Oct. 14

Benford Capital Partners and Industrial QC have acquired Avalon Vision Solutions, a global leader in machine vision solutions for injection molding and die casting. Avalon’s flagship product, MoldWatcher, enhances quality and efficiency by minimizing downtime in manufacturing. This marks Industrial QC’s fourth acquisition following LiteSentry, Softsolution and Strainoptics, expanding its expertise and portfolio in machine vision instrumentation.

TIW Western acquired Nor’West Controls, July 22

TIW Western Inc. has expanded its product range by acquiring Nor’West Controls, a respected Alberta-based manufacturer of analytical sample coolers. Founded in 1975, Nor’West is known for rugged, reliable sample coolers used to cool hot water, condensate and sub-cool steam samples. The integration simplifies procurement and service for shared customers, leveraging over three decades of partnership and maintaining high quality standards.

Materials Transportation Co. acquired assets of Sackett Systems, Sept. 29

Materials Transportation Co. has acquired the assets of Sackett Systems in a cash transaction. This includes inventory, equipment and intangible assets, expanding MTC’s footprint in key battery handling markets. MTC will also offer replacement parts and service for existing Sackett equipment, ensuring continuity and support for customers relying on those systems, reinforcing its commitment to long-term customer support and market growth.

Enpro agreed to acquire AlpHa Measurement Solutions, Oct. 13

Enpro Inc., an industrial technology company, has entered definitive agreements to acquire AlpHa Measurement Solutions and Overlook Industries for about $280 million in cash. These acquisitions will advance Enpro’s 3.0 strategy by boosting its Sealing Technologies segment. AlpHa, which specializes in liquid sensor technology, will expand Enpro’s compositional analysis offerings, while Overlook will enhance its biopharma production capabilities.

KLH Capital and Artmark Associates completed management buyout, Sept. 24

KLH Capital partnered with Artmark Products Corp. and Artmark Associates to complete a management buyout. Founded in 1945 and based in Doral, Florida, Artmark is a value-added distributor and global sourcing partner to blue-chip OEMs in diverse industrial and commercial markets. The company specializes in sourcing customized flow control components, forgings, castings, electrical hardware, fasteners and more through a network of more than 100 global manufacturing partners.

Sheridan Capital Partners invested in Currier Plastics, Sept. 29

Sheridan Capital Partners invested in Currier Plastics, a manufacturer of precision plastic components primarily for healthcare and life sciences. Founded in 1982 and based in Auburn, NY, Currier is known for advanced custom blow and injection molding in ISO Class 7 and 8 cleanrooms. The investment supports Currier’s growth and transition, with healthcare veteran Andrew McLean named new CEO, continuing the company’s commitment to quality and innovation.

Emerald Lake Capital Management invested in Core Transformers, Sept. 25

Emerald Lake Capital Management, a growth-oriented middle market private equity firm founded in 2018, made an equity investment in Core Transformers, a provider of new and reconditioned transformers and repair services to commercial, industrial, data center and renewable energy markets in the U.S.

GFL Environmental acquired Superior Waste Industries, Sept. 9

Red Dog Equity LLC, an Atlanta-based private equity firm, sold Superior Waste Industries, a Shawnee, Oklahoma environmental services holding company, to GFL Environmental Inc. Superior Waste was founded in 2022 by industry veteran Billy Dietrich to acquire Central Disposal. The company expanded rapidly by acquiring Harley Hollan, Sue’s Recycling and Sanitation and SDS Roll-off Dumpsters, growing its footprint across Oklahoma.

SJE acquired LangeTech, Oct. 8

SJE Inc., a global leader in industrial, water and wastewater control systems, acquired LangeTech, a provider of consulting, programming and engineering services for automation. Founded in 2002, LangeTech specializes in system integration, control system architecture, software development and project management. This acquisition, SJE’s seventh since 2021, expands its U.S. footprint and enhances its Engineered Control Solutions business unit, broadening service capabilities for key industries.

Decide4Action acquired ProAxion, Aug. 30

Decide4Action acquired ProAxion, a specialist in wireless predictive maintenance and machine health solutions. This acquisition enhances Decide4Action’s manufacturing intelligence platform by integrating ProAxion’s plug-and-play IoT sensors with its industrial software suite. The combined solution offers real-time, data-driven insights that improve operational visibility and efficiency, supporting Decide4Action’s mission to simplify processes, automate decisions and drive faster, more impactful outcomes on the factory floor.

Uni.Fund, Genesis Ventures & Helidoni Group funded Terra Robotics, Oct. 14

Terra Robotics, a Greek agri-tech startup, has raised nearly €1.8 million to commercialize its TerraWeeder laser-based weeding technology. The system combines robotics, AI and precision lasers to automate weed control, reducing herbicide use and manual labor. Led by Uni.Fund, with participation from Genesis Ventures, Helidoni Group, HeBAN and angel investor Argyris Kaninis, the funding supports product development, pilot projects and scaling.

Blue Bear Capital & Climate Investment funded Energy Robotics, Oct. 7

Energy Robotics, an AI software platform for autonomous inspections using robots and drones, has closed $13.5 million in Series A funding. With over one million inspections completed across five continents, the company saves customers in oil and gas, chemical, industrial and utility sectors thousands of labor hours. The funding, co-led by Blue Bear Capital and Climate Investment, will accelerate commercial deployment of its hardware-agnostic fleet-management AI software, cementing its market leadership in infrastructure inspection.

Stellex Capital Management acquired Crest Ultrasonics, Oct. 3

Crest Ultrasonics, acquired by Stellex Capital Management, specializes in advanced ultrasonic cleaning, welding and joining equipment for healthcare, electronics, aerospace, automotive and general industries. The company offers a comprehensive product line including precision ultrasonic cleaning tanks, custom solutions and patented welding technologies that improve efficiency and quality.

DCI acquired ILS Automation, Oct. 1         

DCI Inc., a U.S. manufacturer of stainless steel tanks and integrated processing systems, has acquired ILS Automation, a recognized leader in fermentation and bioreactor control systems. For over 20 years, ILS has delivered scalable control solutions such as the Batch Expert+ software and AFC Series controllers, widely used in microbial and cell culture applications across life sciences. This acquisition enhances DCI’s ability to provide end-to-end process automation solutions, aligning with its vision to be the preferred supplier for innovative process technologies.

Granite Asia funded Neptune Robotics, Sept. 29

Neptune Robotics has raised $52 million in Series B funding led by Granite Asia, with strategic backing from NYK Line. The company builds underwater robots that clean ship hulls 3-5 times faster than divers and can operate in strong currents and murky waters. Serving 61 Asian ports covering 70% of trade routes, Neptune targets a multi-billion-dollar market to reduce fuel costs and emissions. The funds will support R&D, new robotic systems, AI platforms and expansion into 20 global markets, with Japan as a key hub.

Workdry International acquired Atlas Dewatering, Sept. 12

Workdry International has acquired Atlas Dewatering, a Florida-based specialist in wellpoint and drainage installations, to strengthen its North American rental business. This acquisition, supported by Workdry’s majority shareholder Arcus Infrastructure Partners, complements its existing Florida operations with Holland Pump, acquired in 2024. Atlas Dewatering, founded in 1997, is recognized for its quality dewatering solutions, including wellpoint systems, pump rental and maintenance.

SJE acquired AMI Global, Sept. 23

SJE Inc., a provider of control systems, acquired AMI Global from Cimbria Capital to enhance its cloud connectivity and remote monitoring capabilities. This marks SJE’s sixth acquisition since 2021 and its first in 2025. Founded in 2009, AMI Global is an IIoT technology company specializing in remote connectivity for industrial equipment, with strong expertise in pump and water wastewater applications.  

Inframark acquired Wheco Controls, Sept. 23

Inframark, a U.S. provider of water and wastewater technology solutions, acquired Wheco Controls to expand its Automation and Intelligence capabilities. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, Wheco is a systems integrator specializing in SCADA, electrical and control solutions. Its QuickData software complements Inframark’s WaterMinds platform, enhancing digital utility performance.
