Measure pressure, flow in Class 1, Div. 2 locations

Differential pressure (DP) gauges and flowmeters are designed for use where dangerous gases and vapors may exist. Products have a Class 1, Div. 2 (Group B, C, and D atmospheres) rating and are said to provide a lower-cost alternative to differential pressure and flow devices when more stringent Class 1, Div.

1 ratings are not required. These Orange Research models come with operating ranges from 5 in. water-gauge to 1,000-psi differential pressure, and from 0 to 10-gpm flow.

A Div. 2 rating means the devices can be operated where hazardous concentrations of flammable gases or vapors exist only because of accidental rupture or breakdown of equipment. A Div. 1 rating allows operation where hazardous concentrations exist continuously, intermittently, or periodically under normal operating conditions.

Switch and gauge-switch combinations with the Class 1, Div. 2 hazardous ratings are now available in DP models 1203, 1503, 1516, 1803, and 1833, and in flow models 2223 and 2323. Switches are SPST or SPDT and are housed in NEMA 4X watertight (weatherproof) enclosures.
