To develop standard device profiles for semiconductor tool applications, the LonMark Interoperability Association recently created its new semiconductor task group. The group includes semiconductor tool and device manufacturers from the U.S., Europe, and Japan, including Lam Research, Edwards High Vacuum, Hermos Informatik, Kokusai Electric, Ebara, and Nippon Motorola.

The task group will allow the manufacturers to work together to develop LonWorks products that conform to the LonMark standard for interoperability. LonMark-compliant products allow integration of multivendor control systems without the need for custom hardware or software.
