Bundy Group, an investment bank and advisory firm that specializes in the automation segment, provides an update on mergers and acquisitions and capital placement activity for this industry, with nine January 2026 report transactions, involving Siemens, Skild AI and SoftBank among other companies. Technologies involved include automation, industrial artificial intelligence (AI), robotics system integration and others.

The Bundy Group said that the automation market continues to experience many mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and capital markets activities. Drivers of this activity include the growth-oriented nature of the automation market, the consolidation opportunities within the industry and the strength of many of the companies operating within it. The automation market has attracted a critical mass of strategic buyers and financial sponsors (private-equity groups, family offices, institutional investors) that seek to own or invest in the industry. From such Bundy Group closed automation transactions as CITI System Integrators and Ultimation, and the team continues to see strong interest from a range of qualified buyers in the automation segment. SoftBank, others, fund Skild AI, Jan. 14

Skild AI has raised $1.4 billion in funding led by SoftBank, with participation from Nvidia, Macquarie Capital, Jeff Bezos and others including LG, Schneider Electric, Lightspeed and Sequoia Capital. The investment values the company at over $14 billion as it advances omni-bodied intelligence—a general-purpose AI brain for controlling any robot across diverse tasks.

Platte River Equity acquired Team UIS, Jan. 14

Platte River Equity acquired Team UIS, a provider of electrical testing, maintenance, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and field services for utility, industrial, data center and infrastructure customers. Founded in 1976, UIS focuses on ensuring system reliability, safety and performance through mission-critical electrical services.

ProMach acquired American Holt, DMA Solution and Pride Engineering, Jan. 9

ProMach acquired American Holt, DMA Solution and Pride Engineering (collectively AmHolt) from Arcline Investment Management. These companies design and manufacture packaging components for beverage, food, protein, home care industries and precision parts for aluminum can production, expanding ProMach’s consumer packaged goods capabilities.

Automated Industrial Robotics acquired Kaon Automation, Dec. 22, 2025

Automated Industrial Robotics Inc. acquired Kaon Automation, an Ireland-based firm delivering custom industrial automation for medical and life sciences manufacturing. Kaon specializes in precision assembly, aseptic high-speed filling, end-of-line automation and modular systems with intelligent conveyors for regulated high-throughput production.

Valmet agreed to acquire Severn Group, Dec. 22, 2025

Valmet agreed to acquire Severn Group, a UK-based industrial valve manufacturer including Severn Glocon, ValvTechnologies, and LB Bentley, for USD 480 million (EUR 410 million). Severn specializes in severe-service valves and flow control for process industries like refining, chemicals, mining, power and oil and gas, with estimated 2025 net sales of EUR 215 million and ~950 employees.

Galco acquired Ad-Tech CCI Inc., Dec. 18, 2025

Galco acquired Ad-Tech CCI to expand industrial controls distribution and regional coverage. The transaction strengthens Galco’s presence in the Mid-Atlantic and broadens its automation product offering.

Union Park Capital acquired GAM Enterprises, Dec. 12, 2025

Union Park Capital acquired GAM Enterprises, a manufacturer of high-precision gear reducers, coupling and custom motion control solutions. Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Mount Prospect, Illinois, GAM serves automation, robotics, aerospace, medical and semiconductor OEMs with mission-critical mechanical components and engineered motion systems.

Siemens acquired Setmetrics, Nov. 17, 2025

Siemens acquired Setmetrics’ technology, enhancing Brightly Software’s energy modeling with SaaS-based Energy Twin capabilities for scenario analysis in commercial real estate, education and healthcare buildings. The acquisition bolsters asset investment planning by integrating operational, financial and sustainability data for lifecycle energy impact analysis. This enables organizations to embed energy efficiency, simplify sustainability planning and maximize long-term investments.

Autotool acquired VC Automation, Oct. 20, 2025
