Miconex 98 is largest ever; CE’s first exhibit in China

A spirit of progress in the industrial sector was evident at Miconex 98—the International Fair for Measurement, Instrumentation & Automation—held here on May 25-29, 1998. Some 120 companies, including major names like Elsag Bailey, Endress+Hauser, Fisher-Rosemount, GE Fanuc, Intellution, Rittal, Siemens, and Smar—as well as 350 local firms—made Miconex comparable to any major trade show. Thirst for the latest technology was evident and final visitor count reached 53,500 attendees. Other U.S. exhibitors included Action Instruments, Bindicator, Drexelbrook Engineering, Fairchild Industrial Products, Fluid Components International, and Transmation. Arbor Technology Corp., a Taiwanese company, exhibited PC-based automation products. Elsag-Bailey ‘s technologies included Hartmann & Braun products. Endress+Hauser exhibited Promass I Coriolis flowmeters. Spotlighting its PlantWeb system, Fisher-Rosemount also offered a cross- section of products. Meanwhile, GE Fanuc showed the Chinese version 3.2 of its Cimplicity HMI software. Intellution displayed a Chinese translation of its FIX software. Moore Industries showed HartAlarm. Siemens Ltd., China, Automation & Drives Group exhibited PLCs, Simatic WinCC, transmitters, and Profibus DP/PA. The next Miconex show is set for May 2000 in Beijing.
