Phoenix Contact Inc. reports that it has acquired Entivity Inc. to give Phoenix a U.S.-based software resource, products, and know-how to serve control software applications founded on PC-based technologies. Phoenix adds that installing Entivity’s products on its hardware platforms will deliver PC functions in embedded form factors, enabling a greater range of applications.

Phoenix has worked closely with Entivity on joint products and customer solutions since November 2002, and informally since Entivity’s inception. Entivity is reportedly the U.S.’s leading PC-based control software supplier, based on its Steeplechase and Think & Do products.

David Skelton, Phoenix’s automation systems director, says that, “Adding Entivity’s software brands to Phoenix Contact’s solution portfolio further strengthens our vision of modular automation as a viable strategic alternative to traditional control architectures.”
